Every sketchbook is two things at once: a place to capture an idea, and also the opposite, a place to let something loose. Where a small mark, a stray thought, a half-formed shape, gathers enough speed to take off into something larger…a painting, a sculpture, a body of work that didn't exist yet.
In this room, we'll look at both. Chuva will bring out her own sketchbooks, and we’ll also look through the sketchbooks of artists throughout history working across different mediums and how their work moved beyond the book.
Bring your own sketchbook, or begin one here. Some weeks you'll want the focused, dedicated time to let your pages fill with what's on your mind. Other weeks, bring something you've been circling: an idea half-stuck, a project you can't quite formulate, and we'll work through it together, in the sketchbook or beyond it, toward the larger form it's asking for.
*All courses are taught in English
*Bring a sketchbook and the materials of your choice. If you’re new to this, there will be materials for you to try and sketchbooks for purchase.
