Practical home repair for beginners
Ever wished you knew how to hang a shelf properly, tighten a loose cabinet door, fix a dripping tap, or assemble furniture without wondering whether you’re doing it right?
Fix It Yourself is a hands-on, two-hour workshop for anyone who wants to feel more confident tackling the small repairs and projects that arise in daily life. Each workshop focuses on a few practical skills.
We’ll learn by doing: how to choose and use basic tools, understand different walls and fixings, measure and hang things, tighten and adjust hardware, assemble and repair furniture, troubleshoot simple household problems, and recognise when a job is better left to a professional.
The workshops are built around the basic IKEA TRIXIG 15-piece tool kit, which includes a hammer, adjustable wrench, pliers, screwdriver and common bits.
Each class offers an opportunity to practice, ask questions and make mistakes. Come for a single workshop or return each month: every session will have a different focus.
Teacher: Michael Sherman
Michael is an artist and experienced maker who has worked in production for sculptors and international galleries, as well as for a custom-build carpenter in Brooklyn, before moving to Copenhagen.
All levels welcome. No previous experience required.
Classes taught in English.
Last Monday of every month, 16:30–18:30
September 28, October 26, November 30, December 28 2026 and January 25, February 22, March 29, April 26, May 31 2027
Price: DKK 900
Bring a friend and they join for 50% off.
Tools are provided for the workshop. If you want your own basic kit at home, we’ll show you what you actually need—and what you probably don’t.
